Historical legends of Huilong Mountain

According to legend, Emperor Yan built a temple in Huilongshan on auspicious days, and by the time of the Eastern Han Dynasty, he had integrated Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Now the main god enshrined in the temple "Nanyue the Great" is the embodiment of Emperor Yan. In 75 1 year, the Buddha with boundless longevity also began his road to becoming a Buddha at dawn in Huilong ancient temple. It is said that praying in ancient temples is extremely effective.

Then, why is Huilong Mountain called Gu Nanyue?

There are three versions: the first version is from the mouth of the abbot. It is said that Huilong Mountain built its temple earlier than Hengshan Mountain. In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, due to the harsh natural conditions, the abbot at that time allocated two-thirds of the Buddhist monasteries to Mount Hengshan in Nanyue to build another temple. When Nanyue Temple was founded, most of the monks and Taoists came from Huilong Mountain, and the saying of "Ancient Nanyue" came into being. It is said that the abbots and abbots of various temples in Nanyue have been to this ancestor. According to textual research, the history of Huilongguan is about 1.700 years, while that of Nanyue is more than 1.600 years. This statement is valid in time.

The second argument comes from folklore. Zixing County Chronicle says, "According to legend, the King of South Vietnam came here for the summer in May and June.". Moreover, the Hengshan Mountains originated from Huilong Mountain.

The third argument is a textual research on Li, a tribute student during the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. In the article "Wandering in the Mountain" contained in the County Records, he put forward his own views. He believes that the reason for saying "ancient" is because "Tang Yu is not ancient" and "the five emperors are ancient". According to legend, Emperor Yan, the ancient dragon, tasted a hundred herbs and spread farming. He once lived in Huilong Mountain. Xian 'an on Huilong Mountain is a place where later generations pay homage to Emperor Yan and burn incense.

Because there is no obvious physical evidence, there is no way to get their true source. But what is clear is that Huilongguan has a long history.
