It was Wanrong's younger brother Runqi who proposed to build a cenotaph for her sister.

Wanrong and Puyi have lived in Changchun for 14 years. After Japan's defeat, Wanrong fled with Puyi and died in Yanji prison in 1946. Wanrong was wrapped in an old kang mat and buried on a nearby hillside after her death.

After liberation, the local government tried many times to find the remains of the last queen, but it never disappeared. So the last queen of China never had a grave.
