Historical materials of Yugu Temple in Qingdao

During the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty (1403- 1424), the surname Yu of Dashuibo Village in Dengzhou Prefecture, Jiaodong (now Wendeng City, Shandong Province) moved to Cuobuling Village in Qingdao to settle down. During the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty, there was a girl from a big family named Yu III who often went to the temple to burn incense and worship Buddha with her family since she was a child. When she grew up, she didn't miss her children and devoted herself to Buddhism. When she came of age, her family engaged her, but she didn't follow. On the wedding day, her family forced her into a sedan chair. The sedan chair was carried to the north of Huang De 'an. The girl cut her hair with scissors and ran to the temple to sit quietly for a day and a night, determined to convert to Buddhism. At that time, abbot Huang De 'an thought that she was possessed by gods and promised to classify her as a Buddhist. Since then, Miss Yu has not only burned incense, recited scriptures and worshipped Buddha every day, but also helped the nearby farmers to do many good deeds and won the respect of the villagers.

At that time, there was a hippo Shi Cun near Huang De 'an, and there was a man named Ma in the village. This man is a lawyer now. Because there were so few learned people at that time, the people in the village and Fiona Fang 10 respected him very much, and he often went to Fushan for fairs. Every time he passes by Huang De 'an, he will come in and have a rest. When passing by Huang Daoan, he will go to the temple to drink tea and chat with monks. At first, the monks were very hospitable and respectful, and the monks in buddhist nun also respected him. Every time, they offered their seats for tea, but the horses never gave alms, not even incense money. After a long time, the monks gradually gave him the cold shoulder, and then stopped serving tea. Ma Huaijin became angry from embarrassment and had a plan. He collected many bones of pigs and sheep and buried them around the temple. Then he went to Jimo County to sue Huangdao Temple, saying that monks had nothing to do all day, often killing pigs and sheep, drinking and eating meat. The county magistrate led people to follow him to the ecliptic temple, and sure enough, many pig and sheep bones were dug up around the temple wall. The government asked the monk, who was dumbfounded and could not explain. The county magistrate was furious and indiscriminately ordered all monks to move out of the temple, leaving only nuns in the girls according to the requirements of the masses.

After the monk was expelled, the nun saw that buddhist nun was very small and there were few statues, and vowed to repair and expand it. In order to realize her wish, she begged everywhere. One day, she came to Zaoyuan Village in Laoshan Mountain and saw a towering jujube tree, under which she recited the scriptures for three days and three nights. This move moved the local people. Everyone learned that her original intention was to raise jujube trees and build temples, so they organized everyone to cut down jujube trees and send them to Huang Dean. Her behavior also touched the surrounding residents, and everyone donated money to support her. Jade nun prepared money and materials, started construction on an auspicious day, and demolished the original ecliptic temple. The new temple site was selected 6 meters south of the original ecliptic temple site (now the temple site), and it was named "Yugu Temple" after completion. There are five main halls in buddhist nun: the main hall, the East Gallery, the West Gallery, the Heavenly King Hall and the South Pavilion Hall. Since then, Jade Girl has been an apprentice in buddhist nun, which has been passed down from generation to generation, and buddhist nun has a strong incense.
