On the basis of the original C series technology, Nissan Diesel introduced the U series bus for the first time in 1973. At that time, the U series covered two models, U20 and U30. These two models are the first generation of bus products pioneered by Nissan diesel, which are very representative. However, due to time, it is difficult to see this series of models now.

The above two pictures show U20 and U30 cars. The U30 series with the upper two doors is the main bus line and sightseeing passenger transport in the urban area. U20 series is a single-door model as shown below, which mainly focuses on mountain passenger transport, suburban passenger transport and long-distance passenger transport. The two cars have different power configurations, but the chassis specifications are exactly the same.

From the configuration table, we can see that U20/30 has three sizes. They are short-wheelbase versions, with a body length of 10.06 m; Medium wheelbase version, body length10.69m; Long wheelbase version, body length11.09m. From now on, there is not much difference between the three models, which can be unified into 10- 1 1 meter-class passenger cars, but at that time, Nissan diesel still divided the three models very clearly.

This paper introduces the U20 series passenger cars (called 4R95 in some areas) with daily diesel production since 1970s. The exact model of this car should be U20H, which belongs to the smallest version of the three models, with a total length of 10.06m and a wheelbase of 4.67m m. From the appearance, the car is full of water stains, serious rust has appeared around the window, and the lower part of the bumper has been deformed.

The windshield is a split design, with a relatively large size and a good view. The wiper adopts the reverse brush type, but it is too rusty to use. The left and right rearview mirrors of Nissan diesel U20 bus can be folded. In the above picture, the left rearview mirror is not deformed and displaced, but folded in. The turn signals at the left and right ends in the middle of the front face are raised, and the shell of the turn signal is seriously faded.

If the wing logo in the middle of the front face of Nissan diesel UD has been used in the later models of Nissan diesel, it will be as popular as Hino's eagle logo. The black decorative plates on the periphery and middle of the headlights are covered with silver metal, which is a bit like sausage mouths. Two headlights are installed on the left and right, and the periphery of the headlights is covered with a silver trapezoidal frame. The engine of U20 is rear-mounted, so a sealed black decorative board is installed in the middle of the front face.

There should be more turn signals on the bumper, and the lower part of the bumper is seriously deformed. Interestingly, the left and right ends of the bumper are covered with black plastic sheaths. We didn't find this design on the original U20 bus. It may be an added design on later models.

The body length of 10.06 m is also a very popular size, which can adapt to various road conditions. Nissan firewood is positioned as a mountain road for U20H. Of course, this size is also very suitable as a commuter car. The car uses red and yellow flowers, and until now, the flowers are still clearly visible and full of a sense of the times.

The engine is rear mounted, the air inlet is installed at the top of the right rear car, and the heat dissipation grille is installed at the left half of the car. The rear windshield is not designed as a whole, but consists of three pieces of glass. There is also a blue sticker on the left half of the glass, which says "cold RV", indicating that there is air conditioning in the car. The taillights on the left and right sides adopt a convex horizontal type.

The switch of the rear engine compartment and the tool compartment adopts this knob type, which is also a very common design on Japanese passenger cars that year. But it may rust when used for a long time, and the knob in the middle of some switches is difficult to turn.

Nissan Diesel U20H with Nissan Diesel PD? 6 engine, its sister model U30 is equipped with more powerful PE? 6 engine. Nissan diesel PD? The engine is in-line 6-cylinder direct suction with displacement of10.3l. The maximum power of the engine can reach 185 horsepower and the torque can be output at 1200 rpm. This engine was also mounted on Nissan diesel C series trucks, which was the main model at that time. And PD is derived from this? The 6T turbocharged version has a power of 245 HP and a torque of 893N.m.

There is no driver's door on the left side of the car, but there is still a safety door near the rear. Japan really attaches great importance to bus safety. The whole vehicle adopts large-size windows that can be pushed and pulled back and forth. On the car body, you can see the dense rivets to fix the car body skin together. Even if there is different corrosion, the rivet will not loosen and the skin will not crack.

Due to the small size of the vehicle, U20H uses small-sized wheels. The front and rear axles of this vehicle adopt six-bolt small-tonnage axles with 16-inch six-hole steel rings and 8.25 tires on the outside.

Get on and off in three steps.

The first thing you see after entering the cabin is the driving area. The cockpit of U20 is basically the same as Nissan diesel C series heavy trucks, and the steering wheel specification should be universal. A large instrument and three small instruments are installed at the back, which is relatively intuitive from the driver's point of view.

On the driver's right side, a gearbox control lever and a cassette radio are arranged. All the control buttons are integrated in the small box on the driver's left, and most of them are vertical toggle switches.

The functions on the control panel are quite complete. In addition to the control of car lights, there are refrigerator control lever, automobile ventilation system control panel and air conditioning engine switch control panel.
