Mainlanders go to Hong Kong to register for marriage.
1. Submission of Notice of Intended Marriage Anyone who intends to get married, whether in a marriage registry or a licensed public place of worship, must submit a notice of intended marriage to the Hong Kong Marriage Registry in the specified form in advance. Both parties to a marriage are not limited by living conditions, and can also be people of any nationality. The legal minimum age for marriage is sixteen (according to the western calendar). Second, how to submit the notice of intended marriage In addition to submitting the notice overseas, one or both parties who intend to get married must submit the signed notice of intended marriage to the marriage registry in Hong Kong. Applicants must submit their Hong Kong identity cards, travel documents or other identification documents. When submitting the marriage notice, you must provide the following personal information: full name; Marital status (i.e. whether you are unmarried, widowed or divorced, or whether you have been married in any ceremony before); Occupation; Age; Address; Names of both parents; If either party is under the age of 2 1, the name and address of the person who consents to the marriage and the identity of that person (that is, the relevant person specified in Schedule 3 to the Marriage Ordinance) must be listed, and proof of relationship with the relevant person must be submitted. 3. It is specially stipulated that a minor who intends to get married is under 2 1 year old, but has reached 16 year old, and is not a widower or widow, and must show the consent of the relevant personnel specified in Schedule 3 of the Marriage Ordinance to the marriage registrar. If there is no such person to give consent, the person concerned may apply to the District Court judge for consent. Divorced person/widower or widow, if the person to be married is a divorced person, must submit the decree of dissolution of marriage issued by the competent court for proof; And submit a certified copy of the final judgment of the court with seal to the marriage registrar before the wedding. If the person to be married is a widower or widow, he must submit his previous marriage certificate and the death certificate of his former spouse. If divorce documents or death certificates are not written in English or Chinese, certified translations of these documents must be submitted. Display of Notice of Intended Marriage and Wedding Arrangements The notice of Intended Marriage shall be publicly displayed at the marriage registration office and marriage registration and record office where the notice is received for at least 15 full days. In the meantime, if any person authorized by law objects to the marriage, he can write the word "No" on the copy of the notice produced by the registrar for reference, and add the status of signing and declaring his opposition to the proposed marriage. If the marriage registrar thinks that the person is not authorized by law, he can allow the marriage to continue. If the marriage registrar thinks that the objection is valid, any party who intends to get married can appeal to the court of first instance against the registrar's decision, and the court will make a ruling on the appeal. The judgment of the court of first instance is final. After the wedding notice has been posted for 15 days, if no one raises any objection, the wedding can be held. People who intend to get married should consult the marriage registrar in charge of the marriage registration office in advance about the exact date and time of the wedding. If the wedding is to be held in a licensed public place of worship, please consult the clergy who presided over the wedding. After the notice of marriage is issued, both parties must get married within three months, otherwise the notice is completely invalid; After that, both parties must inform each other again before they can get married. Appointment of wedding time is made on a first-come-first-served basis to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to choose the right wedding date. Those who intend to get married can make an appointment to submit the marriage notice through the Internet or interactive voice response system within 14 days before the wedding date. The notice of marriage appointment service is only applicable to those who intend to hold a wedding in the marriage registry. If you choose to hold the wedding in a licensed religious place, you can ask about the arrangement of submitting the marriage notice to the marriage registry. On the auspicious wedding days announced in 2005 and 2006, the wedding service hours will be extended to Saturday afternoon.
