Architectural style of Chigang Tower in Guangzhou

In the Ming Dynasty, Lingnan architecture still followed the traditional techniques, with simple and lively local characteristics. Chigang Pagoda and Pazhou Pagoda are similar in style, retaining the characteristics of pavilion-style brick pagodas in the late Ming Dynasty. Forty-seven years of Wanli in Ming Dynasty (16 19) was initiated under the direct command of the king. Halfway through the project, it stopped because of lack of funds. The apocalypse period (162 1 ~ 1627) was continued by Prime Minister Li. In the 24th year of Qing Daoguang (1844), Wu and Pan Shicheng donated money to rebuild it. The tower is a plane octagon, and the north and south doors enter the first floor of the tower room. There are granite slabs engraved with "Worship before God". The west gate has two floors of underground buildings, which are arranged around the flat seats and penetrate the core wall. There are shrines on every floor. The tower body is painted with white mortar, the four corners are painted with cinnabar leaning against the column, and the top of the column is painted with cinnabar forehead. Six-story rhomboid bricks leap from the forehead, two or more eaves overlap, and four-story rhomboid bricks leap from the platform. The top of the tower is an octagonal pyramid roof, and the pagoda does not exist. On the top of the tower, two iron pots are cast. On the first pot was cast: "Qin Jiabu's title registration, that is, Pan Shicheng chose Panyu, that is, Wu Neiguan, the 24th anniversary of the reconstruction of Daoguang in Qing Dynasty, Ji Riji and Furnace Building". The plane of the tower foundation is octagonal, each side is 5.5 meters long and the height is 1 meter. Built of red sandstone, the base is paved with gray sandstone, and the east is paved with granite. Totalix on the first floor has a vivid expression, and there are images of westerners from Shiban to the base and corner of Taki. There is a 0.36-meter-0.27-meter granite stone tablet embedded in the north of the tower, which is engraved with the notice of Panyu County government prohibiting the theft of tower bricks during the Republic of China. The tower was announced as a municipal cultural relics protection unit in 1989.
