What does Dunzhu mean in Tibetan?
In ancient China, Han girls had to change their hair when they reached Joe's age to show their adulthood. This ceremony is called "harmony". But in Tibet, Tibetan girls are considered to have reached adulthood when they reach Joe's age. Every year, on the third day of the first month of the Tibetan calendar, every household has to change hair styles, wear headdresses and hold adult ceremonies for girls who have reached the age of Joe. In Tibetan, this ceremony is called Dayton. The third day of the first month is an auspicious day. Girls' parents often can't hide their joy because their daughters have grown up. In the morning, the girl washes her face with water mixed with milk, which is called "white water" and is a symbol of auspiciousness, purity and happiness. When the sun just rose, relatives and friends from all over the world came. The girl's uncle, uncle and every visitor brought congratulations to her. Ladies help girls dress up from head to toe, from inside to outside, from top to bottom, put on bright Tibetan robes, tie ribbons and put on cowhide boots embroidered with various patterns, which is so elegant and childish. While changing the girl's new clothes, the ladies read the eulogy of "good luck". It's called Dunzhu.
