There is a folk saying in Tianjin that the first month is the New Year. But in a narrow sense, the days of Spring Festival in Tianjin only refer to New Year's Eve and the first day of the first month. Laba Festival is on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month. On this day, every household began to cook Laba porridge, all kinds of beans, rice and dried fruits, and put brown sugar and white sugar in it for children to eat.

And laba garlic. Peel garlic, soak in vinegar, add sugar and mix well. During the New Year in China, everyone eats jiaozi. When eating jiaozi, open it, and the garlic will be emerald green, adding a delicious taste to the white and fat jiaozi.

In Tianjin, the Spring Festival comes into people's lives in early February. A few days before the Spring Festival, it was Laba. On Laba Day, people scrambled to make Laba porridge. No matter how delicious grandpa cooks, I just won't eat it. The reason is that people still have to cook laba garlic on that day. Grandpa wrapped garlic in vinegar first, then sealed it and dipped it in jiaozi for the New Year. Although I don't like garlic, I like to be jealous because garlic smells so good.

Laba vinegar is ready and people are busy shopping. Adults buy new red clothes for their children, hoping that the new year will be safe. In addition, they need to buy some firecrackers and cannons to set off during the Chinese New Year. Old people began to buy some foods, such as pistachios, hazelnuts, peanuts, melon seeds, chocolates, almonds and so on. Children can buy many things, the first choice is small fireworks, followed by some drinks, and finally what snacks.
