What are the ecliptic and the underworld?

"ecliptic" and "underworld" are the so-called "auspicious days" and "unlucky days" advocated by feudal superstitions. The so-called auspicious day is "ecliptic day" and the so-called sinister day is "underworld day". It is said that people's words and deeds and every move on an auspicious day can bring good fortune and wealth, and even if disaster strikes, it can save the day. On the other hand, on a bad day, nothing goes well.

In order to confuse people, the editor of the old Huangli wrote 12 words at the bottom of each date in the Huangli calendar, namely, construction, division, fullness, equality, determination, persistence, destruction, danger, success, closure, opening and closing. Every day corresponding to the words "elimination", "danger", "decision", "persistence", "success" and "opening up" is an auspicious day. The days corresponding to the words "build, full, flat, broken, closed and closed" are the sinister days of the underworld.

In addition to the ecliptic and the underworld, there is also a "taboo" in the "Yellow Calendar", which should also be used for public display. "Avoid" and "appropriate" means appropriate and appropriate. Of course, taboos are taboos. Together, these two words mean which days are suitable for doing something and which days must be taboo. Although these superstitious sermons had a great market in ancient times, they were repeatedly refuted and exposed. For example, in his masterpiece Lun Heng, Wang Chong of Han Dynasty wrote an article "Ridicule on Japan" specifically for "taboo" and so on. This article strongly exposes the deception of "avoidance". He clearly pointed out: "mortals have to do things, and after doing things, they will inevitably have good or bad luck." If you think that you should choose the good days of the past when you see good luck, and think that the past is bad luck when you see bad luck, it is just complete self-deception.

Although the ancients' criticism of feudal superstition is commendable, it has little effect because of the lack of scientific basis. Now we can easily refute the feudal superstition based on science. From the principle of making calendars introduced earlier in this book, we can accurately know that the calculation and arrangement of years, months and days are completely based on the natural motion laws of the earth, the sun and the moon, without any mystery. According to the principle of modern astronomy, astronomers can compile calendars for years, decades, hundreds or even tens of thousands of years in advance. When we know the ins and outs of the year, month and day and the scientific truth of making calendars, the "underworld of the ecliptic" and "taboo" will be broken.
