Introduction of glass tower of Shengshou Temple in Jincheng?

The Glass Pagoda is located on the platform in front of the Hall of the Great Hero of Shengshou Temple in Yangling Village, Qin Chi Town, 20 kilometers northwest of Yangcheng County, Jincheng City. Together with Shengshou Temple, it is the second batch of key cultural relics protection units in Shanxi Province.

The glazed pagoda was built in Chen Bing during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (16 16). It is an octagonal ten-stage pavilion-style glass pagoda with a height of 27 meters. The tower foundation is sandstone, and the lower end of the whole tower looks like a pot door with incense burner legs. The corner is carved with the head of a beast and the king of Tota. The glazed pagoda is engraved with the words "made in the middle of spring and auspicious day in the thirty-sixth year of Wanli Ming Dynasty", which is the best proof of the pagoda's value. Each floor is decorated with glazed cornices, and each leng is embedded with dwarf lux and embossed floral ornaments, which is very magnificent. The main body of the tower is a masonry structure, with one layer solid and more than two layers hollow. On the outer wall, the glass statues of legendary figures in Buddhist stories with various names, different sculpts and free expressions are really ingenious and lifelike.

Unfortunately, most of the exquisite glass sculptures on the glass tower were shoveled off the head of the Buddha. This is made by Qiao Yongfeng, a descendant of Qiao, a famous glass craftsman in Tongji, this city, and his second son. Fine workmanship, pure color, especially peacock blue glaze, is a fine product of ancient glaze firing technology.
