Engagement-Wedding-Postnuptial Etiquette of Jing Nationality in Vietnam

A friend from Vietnam called and said she was getting married. She is an international student who came to China from Vietnam. Before returning to China, she said that I must attend her wedding when she got married. For my best friend's wedding, I finished my work and started a simple trip to Vietnam. There are more than 50 ethnic groups in Vietnam, and the Jing nationality has the largest number, accounting for more than 80% of the national population. This trip to Vietnam gave me a taste of the unique wedding of the Jing nationality. Beijing-style weddings retain their original characteristics: the first step is engagement, and the man follows his parents, uncle, brother and sister to the woman's house. The woman took the gift and invited them to have tea. The two families proved their love. From engagement to marriage, it usually takes six months, and parents of both men and women agree on an auspicious day for marriage. On the wedding day, the bride wore red national costume. When the man's house picked up the bride, two children were carrying small lanterns, two young people were carrying big lanterns, one was carrying a gift giver in front, and parents and relatives were walking behind. On the giver, there are betel nuts, two bottles of wedding wine, a roast whole pig and a pot of glutinous rice. The groom is wearing a new dress and holding a fresh rose in his hand. The groom is very handsome. He arrived at the woman's door, and she set off firecrackers and gave gifts. After that, the two in-laws had a courtesy conversation, and the parents told the bride what to do when she arrived at the groom's house again. Then the groom helps the bride put on the ring. Looking at the happy smiles on her parents' faces, I know that they are very satisfied with their daughter's marriage. Then, the fathers of both men and women and two new people worship the ancestors of the woman together, and their mothers exchange rings. Both parents drink together, and the husband and wife drink a glass of wine to congratulate * * * on their happy life in the future. Finally, friends raised their glasses together to wish. The float to pick up the bride is beautifully dressed, and the bride's parents are not allowed to follow. The bride got on the float so that she got married. Followed the float to the groom's house. This home is beautifully decorated. When the bride arrives at the door, the groom's parents will send her to the door, and then worship her ancestors and hold a wedding banquet. It's so festive and lively. The bride won't be home for three days. In Vietnam, weddings are also held in churches. Later, my friend said that they were both orthodox Jing people and their parents were traditional, so they followed their parents' wishes. "Filial piety is the first virtue", so is the tradition of the Jing nationality. The wedding is over. Seeing that they are so happy, I sincerely wish them to "hold your hand and grow old with your son". Jing nationality, also known as Yue nationality, has a population of 65.79 million, accounting for 86.2% of Vietnam's population, and is the main ethnic group in Vietnam. In the past, they were called people with crossed toes, or simply people with crossed toes.

Among the 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam, the Jing nationality has the fastest economic and cultural development and occupies a leading position. Therefore, it has a great influence on the development of 53 ethnic minorities in China.

General situation of Jing nationality:

The population of Jing nationality in Guangxi is 13700, which is the only ethnic group in Guangxi that mainly focuses on fisheries. In the Ming Dynasty, their ancestors fished and drifted to the sea in the Tuoshan belt of Vietnam, and settled in the Beibu Gulf coast of Guangxi. They mainly live on the three small islands of Wuwei, Aconitum and Shanxin in Jiangping Township, Fangcheng Autonomous County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and are known as the "three islands of Jing nationality". The rest are distributed in Tanji, Hongkan and Hengwang.

The Jing nationality used to be called Yue nationality, and it was officially renamed Jing nationality in 1958. The Jing people have their own language, but there is no written language. Most Jing people use Chinese (Cantonese) and Chinese. The "singing ha", bamboo dance and piano solo, which are loved by Jing people, are known as the three "pearls" of Jing culture. The Jing people are mainly engaged in coastal fisheries. In recent years, agriculture, fish processing industry and artificial pearl farms have been developed in the three islands of Beijing. Jing people worship their ancestors and believe in many gods. In the past, the Jing people generally believed in Buddhism and Taoism, and a few people believed in Catholicism. The custom of Jing nationality is to worship God on holidays. At that time, pigs, chickens and fish should be prepared to worship their ancestors. Boiling pork to worship ancestors is still a ceremony for Jing women when they get married. Every year, on Haji Festival, all men over the age of 16 should buy chicken, wine, glutinous rice, betel nut and other sacrifices for Harting. Only after the worship is over, can men be counted as "joining the group" (that is, entering adulthood) and allowed to participate in singing Haji Festival before they can participate in fishing production. Marriage custom of Jing nationality

When young Jing men and women are engaged, the man will give the woman a certain amount of pork and cakes as gifts, and poor families will also send a small amount of sugar, glutinous rice, tea and cakes as wedding invitations. When getting married, the man should prepare 100 Jin of pork, 200 glasses of wine (each cup is equal to 200 grams), seven measures of rice and other gifts for the woman. Three days after the marriage, the bride "returned to the tide". The couple returned their two trays (about 6 kg) of red glutinous rice, two pieces of pork and two chickens to their parents to thank them, and the wedding ended.
