1. Meng Jiangnv

In the Qin Dynasty, there was a kind and beautiful woman named Meng Jiangnv. One day, when she was doing housework in her yard, she suddenly found a man hiding under the grape trellis, which startled her and was about to shout. I saw the man waving his hand again and again, pleading, "Don't shout, don't shout, help me!" " My name is Fan Xiliang, and I'm here to escape. "It turned out that Qin Shihuang arrested people everywhere to do coolies in order to repair the Great Wall. I don't know how many people died of starvation! Meng Jiangnv saved Fan Xiliang. When she saw that he was sensible and had fine features, she fell in love with him, and Fan Xiliang fell in love with Meng Jiangnv. They are soul mates, and with the consent of their parents, they are ready to get married.

On the wedding day, Meng's family was decorated with lanterns and decorations, beaming with joy. Seeing that it was getting dark, the people who drank the wedding banquet gradually dispersed. The bride and groom were about to enter the bridal chamber when they heard a chicken fly and a dog bark. Then a group of vicious officers and men broke in. It's hard to say that they chained Fan Xiliang and took him to work in the Great Wall. The happy event went up in smoke, and Meng Jiangnv was filled with grief and indignation, missing her husband day and night. She thought that instead of sitting at home in a hurry, I would go to the Great Wall to find him myself. Yes! Do it! Meng Jiangnu immediately packed her bags and set off.

Along the way, I don't know how much wind, frost, rain and snow I have experienced and how many steep mountains and rivers I have trekked. Meng Jiangnv never cried a bitter word or shed a tear. Finally, with tenacious perseverance and deep love for her husband, she reached the Great Wall. At this time, the Great Wall is already a long wall composed of construction sites. Meng Jiangnv looked everywhere from one construction site to another, but never saw her husband. Finally, she summoned up her courage and asked a group of migrant workers who were about to go to work: "Do you have Fan Xiliang here?" Migrant workers said: "There is such a person, a newcomer." Hearing this, Meng Jiangnv was extremely happy! She quickly asked again, "Where is he?" The migrant workers said, "They are dead, and their bodies have been filled at the foot of the city."

Suddenly hearing the bad news was like a bolt from the blue. Meng Jiangnv only felt black at the moment and burst into tears. I cried for three days and nights, and I cried so dark that even the sky was moved. It's getting dark and the wind is getting stronger and stronger. There was a loud crash, and a section of the Great Wall cried down, revealing its corpse. Meng Jiangnv's tears dripped on his bloody face. She finally met her beloved husband, but he never saw her again because he had been killed by the cruel Qin Shihuang.

2. The legend of Dingcheng Brick

Dingcheng Brick refers to a brick placed on the back eaves of the West Wengcheng gatehouse in Jiayuguan.

According to legend, during the Ming Dynasty, there was a customs repairman named Yi who was proficient in the 99 algorithm. As long as all the buildings are calculated by him, the materials used for labor are very accurate and economical. The supervisor who supervised customs clearance asked him to count the number of bricks used in Jiayuguan. After detailed calculation, Yi Zhankai said, "99,999 bricks are needed." The supervisor handed out the brick and said, "One more, one less, cut off your head and punish the craftsman for three years." After the completion, only one brick was left, which was placed on the back eaves of the West Wengcheng gatehouse. The supervisor was overjoyed when he learned that he wanted to deduct the wages of Iraq and all craftsmen. Unexpectedly, Yi said unhurriedly, "That brick was put by the gods, and it is a fixed city brick. If it is moved, the tower will collapse. " The supervisor is in charge, and dare not pursue it again. Since then, this brick has been put in place, and no one dares to move it. Now, this brick still remains on Jiayuguan Tower.

3. Ice transportation of stones

When Jiayuguan City was first built, thousands of stone strips 2 meters long, 0.5 meters wide and 0.3 meters thick were needed. After the craftsmen cut the stone strips in Montenegro, they couldn't lift them, the carts couldn't walk, and the mountains were too high and the roads were too far to transport them. Everyone is worried while cutting stone strips. Seeing that winter is coming, the stone strips have not been shipped out of the mountains. If the construction period is delayed, it will be small without salary, and this head will be difficult to protect. Everyone sighed for a long time. Just then, suddenly there was a muffled thunder from the top of the mountain, and a piece of brocade fell from the white clouds. All the craftsmen quickly caught it and saw several lines looming on it. After reading it, everyone suddenly realized and did it. When winter came, people built a road from the mountain to Guancheng, poured water on the road to form an ice lane, and then put stones on the ice lane to slide and transport. As a result, the stone strips were successfully transported to Jiayuguan City, which not only did not delay the construction period, but also saved a lot of construction period. In order to thank God for his protection, many craftsmen built temples near Guancheng to worship the gods, which became a must-visit place for craftsmen after they started their careers.

4. goat carrying bricks

Jiayuguan City, the wall is 9 meters high, and dozens of pavilions of different sizes and countless stacked walls will be built on the wall. The amount of bricks used is amazing. At that time, the construction conditions were very poor, there was no lifting equipment, and it was all carried by hand. At that time, the bricks used to repair Guancheng were all burned 40 miles away. After the brick is burned, it will be pulled to the bottom of Guancheng by ox cart, and then carried up manually. Because of the height of the city, the only way to get up and down is steep and it is difficult to get up and down. Although many people were sent to carry the bricks on the wall, all of them were tired to death, but the bricks on their backs were still in short supply, which seriously affected the progress of the project. One day, a shepherd boy came here to play with sheep. Seeing this scene, he had a brainwave. He took off his belt, tied a brick at both ends and put it on the goat. Then he patted the goat on the back with his hand. The little goat trotted up the wall with a brick on its back. People were surprised and happy after seeing it, and they followed suit. A large number of bricks were quickly transported to the city wall.

5. Hit Shi Yanming

According to legend, in ancient times, there was a pair of swallows nesting in Rouyuanmen, Jiayuguan. One morning, two swallows passed through the customs. At dusk, the female swallows flew back first. When the male swallow came back, the door was closed and he couldn't get in. As a result, the female Yan was heartbroken and made a "chirp" sound from time to time, crying and dying. After his death, his spirit lingered. Whenever someone hit the wall with a stone, he made a "chirp" to tell people. In ancient times, people thought it was auspicious to hear the sound of Yan Ming in Jiayuguan. When the general went to war, his wife knocked on the wall to pray. Later, before going out, the soldiers took their children to pray in the corner, which formed a custom.

6. Wannian Grey and Yanjing City

People say that the Great Wall of Wan Li was first built by Qin Shihuang. In fact, he didn't build the Great Wall at first. As early as the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period before Qin Shihuang, there was a prince of Yan State, who was in danger of being eaten by neighboring countries at any time because of his small territory, few military forces and weak strength. In order to save his country, the monarch of Yan requisitioned civilian workers and built a high wall on his national border to prevent foreign enemies from invading.

Because there was no lime at that time, the walls, stones and bricks he built were plastered with mud. In order to seize the time and repair the city wall as soon as possible, he ordered not to stop work in winter. It was cold and the mud needed hot water, so the migrant workers carried the big iron pot to the construction site, supported it with three stones, and added firewood to boil water. Over time, the iron pot was burned with a big hole, and the water in the pot leaked out; Put out the fire under the pot. However, migrant workers also unexpectedly found that when water was spilled on the stones in the pot, the hot stones exploded in the water, and many white noodles were fried. It's strange for migrant workers to watch and think. When a person mixes this white flour with water and thinks it is wetter and more sticky than mud, he puts it in the gap between stone strips and bricks.

The next day, migrant workers found that the stone strips and brick joints plastered with this white flour were much stronger than those plastered with mud. Yan people were inspired and burned lime to wipe the seams of the city walls.

Later, Qin Shihuang unified China, and in order to keep the throne, he also built the Great Wall of Wan Li in the form of a prince. When construction started, he ordered the original Yan people to do the work of burning lime. So the lime used to build the Great Wall at that time was burned by Yan people. Where the Great Wall was built, it was burned on the hillside. The quality of the burned ash was very good, and it was called "eternal ash" by later generations, which means it will not deteriorate for ten thousand years.

After the Great Wall was completed, other migrant workers returned to their respective places. Because Yan people burned ashes, Qin Shihuang pulled out gold and silver to build a town for Yan people. This town is now Beijing. So at that time, Beijing was called Yanjing, and the mountain where Yan people burned ashes with stones was collectively called Yanshan.

The Great Wall was built in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, lasting more than 2,000 years and with a total length of more than 50 million meters. The Great Wall of Wan Li that we refer to today mostly refers to the Great Wall built in the Ming Dynasty, starting from Jiayuguan, Gansu, China in the west and reaching Yalu River, Liaoning in the northeast of China in the east, with a total length of 6.35 million meters. It is like a vigorous dragon, crossing mountains, cliffs, grasslands and deserts, and undulating at the top of the mountain, on the other side of the Yellow River and on the coast of the Bohai Sea. People who have been to the Great Wall at all times and all over the world are amazed at its majestic momentum, grand scale and arduous project. The Great Wall is a rare treasure and a cultural relic with extraordinary art. It symbolizes the indestructible will and strength of the Chinese nation, the pride of the Chinese nation and the pride of all mankind. Evaluation of World Heritage Committee: Around 220 BC, Qin Shihuang, who unified the whole country, connected some intermittent fortifications built earlier into a complete defense system to resist aggression from the north. In the Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1368 ~ 1644), construction continued, making the Great Wall the longest military facility in the world. Its cultural and artistic value is equal to its historical and strategic importance.
