The Miao people in Leishan mainly build wooden houses with hanging feet. Pure wood structure, the residential buildings in the village, are mostly built between the mountainside and the hillside. Miao people mostly live in a branch family to unite others to prevent the intrusion of other opposing forces, and mostly live in mountainous areas. The diaojiao building is very exquisite, and it is built into a quadrangular patio or a three-way vertical structure, with a wellhead pattern all day long and quite atmospheric. Generally, there are four rows, three rows or five rows and four rows of wooden buildings with hanging feet. Each building is spacious and comfortable to live in. Livestock sheds and poultry houses are generally located at the side or back of the house, and there are sheds for raising livestock and poultry at the bottom of the building, which is convenient for management and clean and hygienic. In most houses, the heads of all hanging columns are chiseled into gear patterns to decorate wooden buildings, which has a unique style. Some have three main rooms and one or two wings. Always match symmetry and height fit. The perimeter area of the house is 90 to 150 square meters. The inner rooms at both ends and the upstairs and downstairs of the mansion are used as bedrooms and kitchens respectively. The nave is a welcoming room, a restaurant with a long table, and a main place for various life activities.

In the diaojiao building, the most exquisite thing is to install a backrest railing with a length of 3 meters to 3.7 meters in the middle direction between nave and the front eaves. The setting form of the railing is very particular, and the whole house can be colored through the modeling style of the railing. Generally, the railing is 39-45cm higher than the foot floor, and the height of the tie rod is 39-66cm. The railings are 27-35 small squares with three fingers as wide as crescent moon, arranged at intervals of 6.6- 10cm, and fixed by butt joint. The top of the small square is tied to an angular horizontal column with a diameter of about 20 cm. The thick plate of the stool is 5-7 cm and the width is 30-35 cm. Under the backrest railing is a plane hardcover, clean and refreshing, with extraordinary style.

There are skilled craftsmen in Miao ancient residential buildings, including hanging wooden houses, and some craftsmen have been passed down from generation to generation. When laying the foundation stone for a new house or cutting down the first tree for building, please ask the craftsman who built the ink line to do it another day. The time to build a house is even more particular. Generally, when building houses in autumn and winter after rice threshing, auspicious days are chosen for the future. Some villages build new houses, and the central pillar must be Chinese fir in Xiangyang Mountain, authentic and sharp. The orientation of the house is also exquisite, some sit south facing north, some sit west facing east, if there is a room near the water, you can't hurdle, the door is facing the concave, you can't face the ridge, there can't be fierce mountains and boulders on the back of the room, and so on.
