What does it mean to go home on the eighth day after marriage?

There is an old and traditional proverb in our country, which has been affecting the travel of Chinese people. That is "seven don't go out, eight don't go home", don't underestimate this proverb, it can affect the annual peak of Spring Festival travel rush and the peak of passenger flow in peacetime. It is said that just after the seventh day of the first lunar month, migrant workers went out to buy tickets, which made the station crowded on the so-called "auspicious day of the ecliptic". So how did this statement come from? There are two traditional sayings:

First, according to relevant information, the saying "seven don't go out, eight don't go home" comes from Tujia nationality. In Tujia areas, people often call "the seventh day" the day when people die, and "seven" has become an unlucky number. This has led to the taboo of "seventh day" not sitting on the big threshold and children not shaving their heads. It is said that sitting on the threshold blocks the way home of the "dead" soul, and children will get sores when they shave their heads. In order to travel safely, don't choose the unlucky day of "seventh day", especially during the Spring Festival. Later, there was a saying that "seven don't go out, eight don't return, and nine go out with a bunch." For thousands of years, it has invisibly affected the travel of China people.

Second, as the saying goes, "Seven things to open the door, rice, oil, salt, sauce and vinegar tea." Since ancient times, the head of a family has to deal with these seven things in his daily life. There is a poem "Being a Teacher" in Yuan Zaju: "I miss you as a teacher, not as a teacher, until I am a mess. Seven things to open the door early, rice, oil, salt, sauce and vinegar tea. " This poem warns family members to do a good job in the family, to live within their means, to make good arrangements, and to be diligent in managing the family, otherwise they will be stretched to the limit, like a mess, and cannot manage the family well. Of course, if your family is going to travel far away, you must arrange these seven things, otherwise you can't travel with peace of mind. The saying that "seven don't go out" has spread.

"Not going out for seven times" is the product of politics, economy and culture in a specific historical period. This is unscientific and can only be used as an ornament of China traditional folk culture. We should not blindly believe this old idea.
