What happened to Franklin's Arctic expedition?

There was not much food, and Franklin encouraged his companions to move on. People were encouraged, gained strength and continued to travel south. The days are getting shorter and shorter, and the snow that stings people's skin comes with the wind and is freezing cold. Hide under the sampan every night to avoid the wind and go on the road at dawn.
