Yanji is the seat of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture government and the political, economic and cultural center of the whole autonomous prefecture. Located in the east of Jilin Province.

It is adjacent to Chang 'an Town in Tumen City in the east, Antu County in the west, Dongshengyong Township in Longjing City in the south, Dunhua City and Wangqing County in the north.
