When is the celebration in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture?

Article 73 of the Regulations on the Autonomy of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture stipulates that September 3 every year is the anniversary of the establishment of the Autonomous Prefecture, and commemorative activities are held to have a day off.

In the 37th year of the Republic of China (1948), Jilin was liberated on March 9th. On March 10, the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Jilin Provincial Government moved from Yanji Street to Jilin City. In the same month, the Jilin provincial government decided to cancel Emu County and merge the area under the jurisdiction of Emu County into Dunhua County. On March 27th, with the approval of Northeast Administrative Committee, Jilin Provincial Government decided to change Jidong Special Zone into Yanbian Special Zone.

The Office of the Commissioner is located in Yanji, and has jurisdiction over seven counties: Yanji, Hunchun, Helong, Wangqing, Antu, Dunhua and Jiaohe. On June 22nd, the Jilin Provincial Government, under the orders of the Northeast Administrative Committee, placed Dunhua and Jiaohe counties under the direct jurisdiction of Yanbian Special Economic Zone. After the adjustment, Yanbian area governs five counties. In July, with the approval of the Northeast Administrative Committee, the Jilin Provincial Government decided to set Yanji, Tumen and Longjing as districts and cities (county-level cities).
