Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture is a minority autonomous prefecture under the jurisdiction of Jilin Province, China, which is usually referred to as Yanbian Prefecture or Yanbian. Yanbian is the birthplace of Manchu and its ancestor Su Shen, and the land of Longxing in Qing Dynasty. Yanbian is located on the border between China and North Korea in the east of Jilin Province, with Yanji as its capital, covering an area of 42,700 square kilometers and a population of about 2146,000 (July 20 15), among which 778,000 are Koreans, accounting for 36.3% of the total population, making it the largest gathering place for Koreans in China.
