When does litchi blossom?

Different varieties of litchi trees will have different flowering times. Generally, the flowering period is between March and April in spring. After flowering, the fruit will gradually mature from May to August and go on the market. However, some early-maturing varieties began to blossom in winter 1 and February, and their fruits matured earlier.

Litchi flowering management should pay attention to the following points:

1. Trim your ears.

Prune the flower spike before the litchi tree blooms, so as to reduce nutrient consumption and improve the quality of flowers and the proportion of female flowers. For longer spikes, trim short points. If it exceeds 14, 15 cm, cut off the top, and remove the over-dense and weak spikes. For plants with too many spikes, spikelets, residual spikes and diseased spikes in the axils of compound leaves should be removed, and the big spike at the top of the last branch should be retained, mainly with high-quality spikes. As for the problem of sparse flowers, the trees with strong potential are sparse, and the trees with poor potential are sparse. Of course, it is necessary to spray pesticides in advance before flowering, so as to avoid the flowers being eaten up by insects before they bloom, which is not worth the candle.

2. Spray medicine to protect flowers.

Usually spray the medicine three times. When handling spikes manually for the first time, spray medicine on the wound immediately to protect the wound from infection and kill insects and bacteria. The second time, when the female flowers first bloom, you can mix the medicine and water evenly and sprinkle them on the leaves. The third time, when the stigma of the female flower has turned brown, the medicine and water can be mixed evenly and sprayed only once on the litchi crown.

3. Promote pollination.

If possible, you can raise bees for pollination, but it is not suitable for pollination when it is in full bloom, because it is easy to spit flowers and the weather is dry, so you should replenish water in time. Spraying foliar fertilizer, you can use 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate or 0.3% urea solution for three or four consecutive times, and spray hormones at the same time.
