The indicator light of airbag system (SRS) has three display modes, one is "SRS", the other is "airbag" (produced before August of Toyota 1992), and the third is "airbag protects passengers".

The main function of SRS indicator lamp is to indicate whether the airbag system is in normal state, and it also has the function of fault self-diagnosis. If the SRS indicator light stays on after the ignition switch is turned to the ON (or ACC) position, and the retrieved fault code shows normal, it means that the battery (or the standby power supply of the SRS electronic control unit) voltage is too low.

However, when designing the SRS electronic control unit, the fault was not coded and stored in the memory, so the fault code was not displayed. When the power supply voltage returns to normal about 10s, the SRS indicator light will go out automatically.
