What does GC-MS do?
The first mass spectrometer was made by British scientist francis aston in 19 19. Using this device, Aston discovered the isotopes of many elements, studied 53 non-radioactive elements, and found 2 12 of 287 naturally occurring nuclides, which proved the atomic mass defect for the first time. He won the 1922 Nobel Prize in chemistry.
Extended data:
Application of GC-MS function;
Imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) can simultaneously obtain the chemical composition information of the sample and the spatial distribution information of the chemical composition on the surface of the sample, and intuitively reflect the material and spatial distribution of the tested object in the form of images.
The application of IMS ranges from the analysis of pollutants on the semiconductor surface to the protein analysis in biological tissues, as well as drug analysis, forensic identification, calligraphy and painting identification, etc. Both Maldi (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization) and SIMS (Secondary Mass Spectrometry) commonly used mass spectrometry imaging technologies need to be carried out in a vacuum environment, which limits the application scope of mass spectrometry imaging to some extent.
