Introduction of Quanzhou Engraving Paper
Quanzhou paper sculpture is a folk art of Han nationality in Quanzhou, Fujian, a famous historical and cultural city in China. Quanzhou paper-cut legend began in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty. In Quanzhou and southern Fujian, it is also popular to carve "red paper" during the Spring Festival. For example, the "Fu Fu" is usually posted on the lintel of the hall door. There are five tables, four inches wide and six or seven inches long, engraved with the words of Kirin and carp leaping over the dragon gate or "Fu" and "Shou", and surrounded by ancient coin patterns; "Changjin" is two inches wide and six inches long. It is engraved with the words "the magpie climbs the plum, the grain is abundant, etc." , usually posted on the lintel. This custom may be a legacy of the Tang and Song Dynasties, with profound cultural accumulation, and it is the inheritance of the innovative spirit of the hardworking and intelligent Han working people.
