There is a folk custom of "storing wax in winter to keep out the cold". After a light snow, the temperature plummeted and the weather became dry, which was a good time to process bacon. After the light snow festival, some farmers began to make sausages and bacon, and stored the surplus meat in the traditional way until the Spring Festival. Many places have the custom of eating bacon in winter, especially southern cities, which have a special liking for bacon.

Third, dry the dried fish.

During the light snow, fishermen in the south-central coastal area of Taiwan Province Province will start drying dried fish and storing dry food. The mullet group will come to the Taiwan Province Strait around the light snow, including swordfish and sand fish. Taiwan Province Province proverb: October beans are too fat to see the head, which means that you can catch "bean fish" in October of the lunar calendar in the cloth bag area of Chiayi County.

Fourth, drink soup.

Before and after the light snow, Tujia people started the annual folk activity of "killing pigs to welcome the new year", which added a warm atmosphere to the cold winter. Eating "planing soup" is the custom of Tujia nationality. In the folk activity of "killing pigs in the New Year", the delicious food cooked with the best fresh pork and hot air is called "planing soup".
