173 air-cooled diesel engine belongs to single cylinder diesel engine, and the valve clearance inspection and adjustment are relatively simple.

First, stop the diesel engine for 5-6 hours. After the diesel engine is completely cooled, open the valve cover, and then turn the flywheel to the 0 position. At the same time, pay attention to the contact between the valve rocker arm and the valve stem. If there is no gap between the contact point of the intake and exhaust valve rod and the rocker arm at this time, it means that the intake stroke starts from the top dead center and the valve gap cannot be adjusted. Then turn the crankshaft for one turn (360) to adjust the clearance between the intake valve and the exhaust valve of (173 air-cooled) diesel engine.
