Handmade in winter solstice
As the saying goes, "When winter solstice comes, eat jiaozi."
The winter solstice is an important solar term in the China lunar calendar.
As a traditional festival of the Chinese nation, the winter solstice is usually called "Winter Festival", "Dragon Festival" and "Asian New Year". The solstice in winter is one of the eight festivals in four seasons, and it is considered as a big holiday in winter. In ancient times, there was a saying that the winter solstice was as big as a year. The custom of winter solstice varies in content or details due to different regions.
More generally, there is a custom of eating jiaozi from winter solstice in northern China. In the south, people eat jiaozi, but there are exceptions. For example, the custom of drinking mutton soup from winter solstice is very popular in Tengzhou, Shandong Province, which means driving away the cold. Dietary customs vary from place to place, but eating jiaozi is the most common.
