When will the Spring Festival couplets be posted?

The time for posting couplets varies according to local customs. In some places, it is posted on the winter solstice, on the 23rd or 24th of the twelfth lunar month, and on the 15th of the first month. In some places, Spring Festival couplets are posted on New Year's Eve, but when they are posted on that day varies from place to place. Generally, Beijingers have posted it since the 23rd of the twelfth lunar month. They can eat jiaozi on New Year's Eve, but they can't post it on the first day of the lunar new year. Nowadays, most people post couplets more and more casually. The two most common times for posting Spring Festival couplets are from the afternoon of the 29th of the twelfth lunar month to 6 am on New Year's Eve to noon on 12.

Spring Festival couplets are characterized by unlimited sentences, such as four-character couplets, five-character couplets, seven-character couplets and eleven-character couplets. A few-word couplet means that a couplet consists of several words. If a long couplet is divided into two or more sentences, the upper and lower couplet should be consistent. When creating, the two characters of the upper and lower couplets are flush, that is, flush, in order to achieve the aesthetic effect of relative yin and yang and harmonious phonology.

There are regular pauses and rhythm changes in couplets, which reflect harmonious rhythm and musical beauty. Therefore, the rhythm (including rhythm and semantics) between the upper and lower couplets should be consistent or corresponding, and should be as consistent as possible. The upper and lower conjunctions should take care of each other and be symmetrical in syntactic structure. Content words include nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, numerals and quantifiers, while function words include adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions, auxiliary words, exclamations and modal particles.
