What does the first frost imply about Chongyang?

201210123 October, the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, coincides with the "first frost" in the 24 solar terms.
10 year122 October, many people celebrated the Double Ninth Festival in advance. It was originally the ninth day of September, and only a few remote towns celebrated the eighth day. Why did the city celebrate in advance? When I asked, I heard the old man say, "The first frost celebrated the Double Ninth Festival, and ten families burned and nine died."
Hehe, the Double Ninth Festival has passed. What about tomorrow, no cooking and cooked food?
Actually, it is not.
This is the evil result of the cultural fault of "Ten Years of Catastrophe". Older people, people who know what it means are all dead. Middle-aged people (born in the 40' s and 70' s) haven't read any serious books for several days because of the cultural fault, let alone a deep understanding of history and culture. They only vaguely heard this sentence from their parents and didn't know its meaning. They misinterpreted it literally from a superstitious point of view, telling young people today that they can't burn a fire on this day, otherwise it will bring disaster.
Let's talk about "first frost" first. The first frost is when the sun is at 2 10, which is the last solar term in autumn. Usually in the middle and late September of the lunar calendar. Twenty-four solar terms say: "In mid-September, the air is cool and condensed, and the dew is like frost." When the temperature drops below 0 degrees, plants that are not hardy will stop growing.
A northern proverb says, "Wheat should not be sown before the first frost." . The frost was advanced at the beginning of this year. On the same day of Chongyang, according to the summary of thousands of years of farming, the harvest in the coming year is not good. Therefore, there is a saying in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province that "the young man will starve to death in the first frost of Chongyang in the coming year". Because of the poor harvest, in order to hoard food, plunder resources, and trigger disputes and wars, the ancient opera sings: "The first frost drives Chongyang, and the war stops the flat" (here "drive" refers to the day drive). Therefore, in the area south of the Yangtze River and other places south of it, families with sufficient food, fearing that the victims and bandits in the north would rob them of their food, took their families up the mountain to avoid disaster. Every family doesn't smoke from the cooking stoves, telling others that "my family is also broken" and there is no food for you to grab, but some families who haven't had time to leave have been looted because of the sale of cooking stoves, so there is "the first frost vs Chongyang, and ten families are ignited." This sentence is widely circulated, warning other shanzhai not only not to smoke on the Double Ninth Festival, but also to avoid disasters during the unfinished period of famine and war. On the Double Ninth Festival, the whole family went up the mountain to avoid disaster. Later, in the good weather and peaceful times, it gradually evolved into the custom of "climbing the mountain nine times".
This is official history and folklore. According to legend, in ancient times, "Chushuang" and "Chongyang" were two brave warriors in the sky. One day, for some reason, they had an argument and fought. From heaven to earth, and from earth to heaven, they only fought in the dark, and the double ninth festival gradually lost. They hid in a firewood stove on the earth, so they were very peaceful and comfortable in the stove, and the first frost was sexual. Therefore, "the first frost chases Chongyang, ten families burn and nine families die" ("chasing" here means catching up). "
Knowing these truths, in order not to light a fire on the Double Ninth Festival, will you still use cooked food to satisfy your hunger?
In fact, many of our traditional festivals are related to historical origins. On the fifth day of May, Qu Yuan threw himself into the Miluo River. In order to prevent fish from eating his meat before picking up his body, every family wrapped it in bamboo leaves and glutinous rice and threw it into the river to feed the fish. Later, it evolved into the Dragon Boat Festival, and every household made zongzi. On August 15, people enslaved by families wrapped secret letters with bread to convey the news of the uprising, and finally gained freedom and family reunion in one fell swoop. Later, it evolved into the Mid-Autumn Festival where every family sent moon cakes to celebrate the reunion.
In traditional festivals, don't forget to prepare some spiritual food for your children when preparing a big meal of chicken, duck and fish.
