What is a postcard?

Postcard, referred to as "Zhang" for short, is a kind of hard paper card printed and distributed by postal departments or other departments according to certain specifications and paper requirements. It is used for communication without additional envelopes, and the contents of letters are open. Postcards are charged by piece, and the postage is generally lower than letters.

According to the regulations of the Universal Postal Union, the size of postcards is: maximum 148mm× 105mm, minimum 104mm×90mm. China's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications stipulates that only the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications can issue postage postcards and use the words "China People's Postal Postcards" (changed from 1992 to "China Postal Postcards"), also known as "Postal Postcards"; Non-postal departments can only use the words "postcards" or "postcards" and may not print postage maps; Post offices around the country can use the words "Chinese people's postal postcards", but they are not allowed to print postage maps.

Postcards can be divided into two types: those with postage and those without postage. Those with postage maps are generally called "stamps".

Postcards without postage maps are stamped. After use, most of them can't be included in the competition-level philatelic products, but can only be collected by hobbies to make interesting philatelic products for self-appreciation. Postcards with postage maps are treasures of special stamp collecting, and the pictures and texts on them can be used as materials for special stamp collecting. Nowadays, the collection of special stamps has changed from stamps to stamps, and stamps only account for about 30% of the stamp collection, so collecting stamps is very important.
