Installation steps of Mercedes-Benz 272 timing diagram

Pacific Auto Network turns the cylinder to the vertical downward position, installs the timing chain slide rail, and installs the timing chain. Please note that the side with copper links faces outward, align the semi-circular key on the crankshaft with the timing mark on the cylinder block, and align the notch on the balance weight on the balance shaft with the timing mark on the cylinder block.

There are four copper links on the chain, two of which are respectively installed on the crankshaft timing sprocket and the balance shaft timing sprocket. The copper link is aligned with the protrusion in the groove at the front end of the crankshaft timing sprocket. On the sprocket with a flat shaft, the copper link is aligned with three stamping positions. Assemble camshaft adjuster. The left intake cam adjuster is marked with L, and the right intake camshaft adjuster is marked with R. Do not install it incorrectly. On the Mercedes-Benz 272 engine, the left and right sides of the engine are determined according to the driver's position in the car, and the engine is vertical in the cabin. Therefore, when assembling the camshaft adjuster facing the engine, R is on the left side and L is on the right side when assembling the camshaft adjuster. The two camshafts located in the middle of the V-shaped cylinder block are intake camshafts. Install the left and right intake camshaft adjusters on the left and right intake camshafts respectively. Pay attention to hang the chain on the adjuster first, and then install the camshaft adjuster on the camshaft, especially the one installed behind the two camshaft adjusters. Otherwise, due to the limited length of the chain, it is impossible to install the chain if the camshaft adjuster is installed on the camshaft first. When assembling the chain, pay attention to hanging two copper links on two spur gears painted with blue paint.
