When is Huang Ming Festival?
According to legend, after Qin Shihuang unified the whole country, when he visited the fief of Houyi (now Zhenjiang New District, Jiangsu Province) in the spring season in bloom, he saw the towering mountains along the Yangtze River, which looked like a dragon, and his heart was filled with joy. In order to keep this auspicious spirit, it was named Chengshan. After that, the local people and people around them climbed the Cuishan Mountain the day after they met Tomb-Sweeping Day, touched auspicious gods and prayed for peace, forming a unique folk festival-Huangming Festival.
On the day of Huangming Festival, Dongxiang, Yangzhong, Danyang, Yangzhou, Taizhou and other places on both sides of the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province have the folk custom of climbing the fierce mountain to pray for blessings. With the growing influence, according to statistics, in recent years, the number of climbers on the day of Huangming Festival alone was nearly 654.38+million, making it one of the biggest mountaineering folk activities in the Yangtze River Delta region.
