The history of the twenty-four solar terms

The current "twenty-four solar terms" come from the method of dividing according to the degrees of the sun's longitude established more than 300 years ago, and it has been used until 1645. However, from the tenth edition of the Chronicle of the Constitution to today's "Lunar Calendar" and "Fourteen Solar Terms" are all determined according to the sun's position on the ecliptic (the degree of the sun's ecliptic).

That is, on a 360-degree circle "ecliptic" (the apparent path of the sun on the celestial sphere for one year), it is divided into 24 equal parts, each equal part is 15, with spring as the starting point of 0 degree (beginning of spring still ranks first), and arranged according to the degree of the yellow meridian.

The sun starts from the vernal equinox, that is, the longitude of the Yellow River is zero. At this time, the sun shines vertically on the equator. Every advance of 15 degrees is a solar term, and it returns to the vernal equinox once a week. This is a tropical year, and the 24 solar terms are exactly 360 degrees. Every time the sun moves 15 degrees on the ecliptic, it is a "solar term", and the degrees between each "solar term" are equal and the time is different.
