When is the spring ploughing?
What we usually call spring ploughing refers to the spring transplanting of rice. According to the climate in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, rice planted in one season should be transplanted after May1(April of the lunar calendar). If rice is planted in two seasons, the seedlings should be planted before Labor Day (March of the lunar calendar), otherwise there will be seasonal problems in late rice. There is an agricultural poem "Spring Plowing" (Heshui Zuo) which reflects the left-behind women in rural areas of China in the 2nd/Kloc-0th century: "In April, spring ploughing, farmers are busy, men work far and women stand on their own feet. Daughter-in-law plows camel cubs, and mother-in-law grabs rice for transplanting. " What is written here is the time of planting a season since ancient times.
