What day is the eighth day of the second lunar month?
The prince's party on February 8 of the lunar calendar is one of the serious traditional festivals of the Bai people in Jianchuan area, which has a history of thousands of years. The main factor of its composition is the influence of Buddhist tantric culture. According to legend, on the eighth day of the second lunar month, Sakyamuni traveled in the city and saw the sufferings of the people, so he decided to establish Buddhism to help all beings. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Jinhua Dam and Shaxiba in Jianchuan have held their own grand folk temple fairs on February 8 every year.
Generally speaking, "Prince" is welcomed into the city on February 6th before the festival. Under the guidance of Buddhism, people burn incense and bathe, dress neatly, and sincerely invite the "prince" (a portrait of the prince made of buza pigment) to the palace or the main temple. On the seventh day of February, the people chanted Buddhist scriptures for the Prince, and prepared the fruits of fasting to pray for the Prince's peace and good fortune.
