Cultivation methods and matters needing attention of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis in hydroponics

Hydroponic cuttage is one of the common propagation methods of gardenia, which is relatively easy to survive. It is a very useful method for novice flower lovers. Let me tell you the cultivation methods and precautions of hydroponic gardenia, hoping to help you!

Just put the pruned branches of Gardenia directly in the container, because the temperature has become very suitable for plant growth during the period after Gardenia, and it can take root after a few weeks of hydroponics. Change water frequently before rooting, so that oxygen is better and rooting is promoted. At that time, the cut branches were not photographed, which was about 3 or 4 weeks after hydroponics last year.

2, the maintenance process of hydroponic gardenia In fact, everyone is most concerned about how to maintain hydroponic gardenia after it takes root and how to make it bloom. To sum up, there are two main aspects.

Change water

I don't have a fixed time to change water during maintenance, so I will change it once I think of it. I remember last year, because the water was smelly, I changed the water. Because there is fertilizer in the water, sometimes moss will grow very vigorously and cover the roots. At this time, I will try to wash the moss in the roots with tap water and clean the culture equipment at the same time. After changing the water, sometimes fertilizer is added, and sometimes water is used.

Attachment: Flower friends once told me that shading can inhibit the growth of moss, so everyone saw a shading box outside my vase. After using it, I feel that I can inhibit the growth of moss to a certain extent, but I can't completely remove it. Some flower friends also told me that I could raise some small fish. I haven't tried it yet because the vase is small. Interested flower friends can try it.

Fertilize soil or land

Hydroponic plants such as chlorophytum and Phyllostachys pubescens can be cultivated with clear water. I have tried this, but for the flowering plant gardenia, I don't think beautiful flowers can be produced without fertilizer.

There are mainly three kinds of fertilizers I use: one is granular compound fertilizer, which is the most common granular fertilizer on the market; The other is compound liquid fertilizer; The third is solid fertilizer, such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate. Concentration: add granular compound fertilizer to vases like mine, about 3-5 tablets each time. Calculate the ratio of liquid fertilizer to solid fertilizer, and the concentration is estimated to be below 1: 1000. Because gardenia sometimes turns yellow due to iron deficiency during maintenance, this bottle of gardenia also used ferrous iron once after entering the room last year. It's the same principle, and it needs to be very fine, otherwise the flowers can't stand it.

3. Overwintering of hydroponic gardenia.

I don't know what the situation is, because I have no field maintenance experience in northern China. My side is the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In extreme cases, the temperature can reach about-10 degrees in winter, and outdoor gardenias are generally frozen above -5 degrees. But because it is hydroponics, if the temperature is below zero, I think it will definitely affect the frozen flowers. So I put the hydroponic gardenia on the indoor closed balcony after the first frost solar terms, and the lowest temperature of the balcony at night is estimated to be around 0 degrees.

Ways to make gardenias bloom. Choose the right pot soil. Gardenia is a kind of acid-loving flower, and the suitable pH value is 5-6. If the soil acidity is not suitable, it will get twice the result with half the effort in future management. The cultivation soil can be humus soil, peat soil or sawdust made of half garden soil, without using old wall soil and cinder. It is more convenient and practical to use the soil of Clivia on the market.

2. Use water scientifically. Gardenia likes moist soil and high air humidity. Keep the basin soil moist during the growth period from April to September. When the soil surface is dry, water it, and spray water on the leaves with a watering can at night. If it withers after drying, it is not good for growth. It grows too vigorously, and the internodes are long. Don't water it at night, and then water it when the sun comes out in the morning. In the northern alkaline water area, tap water should be put for two days before use. Every three to five days, leaves can be wetted with 0.5g citric acid and 1g ferrous sulfate per liter.

3. Rational fertilization. Gardenia likes to be fat. 3% decomposed cake fertilizer can be added to the culture soil as base fertilizer. During the growing season, cake fertilizer and alum fertilizer water made of ferrous sulfate retting are poured once a week, or 0. 1% humic acid total nutrient organic liquid fertilizer is used. Pouring 0. 1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution 1 time or twice in bud stage can make the flowers plump and fragrant. When the temperature is above 35℃ in summer and below 15℃ in autumn, fertilization should be stopped.

4. Get more sunshine. Gardenia likes light and can grow in the shade for a long time, but the flowers are longer and less. In addition to the strong light at noon in July and August and the winter dormancy period, it is generally necessary to maintain it in the sun to flourish.

5. Sleep well in winter. Gardenia can overwinter in the open air in the Qinling Mountains of China, but the root system of potted Gardenia will be damaged after severe winter, and the recovery will be slow in spring. Overwintering indoors with heating is not freezing, but insufficient light and thin growth. Most of the buds formed in autumn will fall off and bloom later the next year. A better way is to put potted flowers in a cold room at about 5℃ to make them dormant, or to wrap flowerpots with thermal insulation materials such as foam plastics to protect their roots and put them in the leeward and sunny places for the winter, so that they can recover quickly in spring and bloom early.

6. Change the soil in time. Small seedlings are potted in small pots and gradually replaced by large pots. When the crown width is 2 to 3 times the diameter of the basin, it is time to change the basin. The growing season can be changed at any time. After the pot is inverted, the soil lump should be planted in a new pot about 5 cm larger than the diameter of the original pot. When the pot is about 28 cm long, generally do not change the pot, only change the soil. It is better to change the soil in March in spring. After watering the pot, cut off part of the old roots, shake off half of the old soil, plant new soil in the pot, water it, put it in a warm and semi-shady place, and keep it in the sun when the new buds sprout.

7, appropriate pruning. Cut off the seedlings of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis at the height of 20 cm, leaving 3 ~ 4 branches. When the two branches are paired with leaves, they are cut off again to promote the branches, so that they can grow later. Gardenia doesn't need topping. After flowering every year, gently cut off the inner branches and weak branches, and some branches are short and short. When the crown width of gardenia grandiflora is too large after 4 ~ 5 years, it can be pruned strongly after flowering. Generally, two pairs of leaves are cut off from the upper branches, and the inward buds and the buds at the lower part of the trunk are wiped off after budding, so that the plant shape will become more compact and beautiful.
