What's the climate like at the Light Snow Festival?
During the light snow solar term, a relatively stable meridional circulation has been established in East Asia, and low pressure or trough often appears in Siberia. When moving eastward, there will be a large-scale cold air heading south, and there will be a large-scale gale and cooling weather in the southeast of China.
At the beginning of the light snow solar term, the frozen depth of the soil in Northeast China has reached 10cm, with an average of 1cm for almost one day and night, and more than one meter at the end of the solar term. Therefore, as the saying goes, "the snow area is tightly sealed", and then rivers of all sizes freeze.
The agricultural proverb says, "Light snow will make the coming year rich." There are three meanings here. First, there will be light snow, and the rain will be even in the coming year, without major droughts and floods; Second, snow can freeze some germs and pests to death, reducing the occurrence of pests and diseases in the coming year; Thirdly, snow can keep warm, which is conducive to the decomposition of soil organic matter and enhance soil fertility.
