The primitive Dong villages left in the mountainous areas of Guizhou were once the favorite places for European tourists.

Tourism in Guizhou is very popular in recent years, but when most tourists come to Qiandongnan, they will go to Xijiang Miao Village, Zhaoxing Dong Village, or Basha Miao Village, which is known as the "last gunman tribe", and to see the Dong Village in Huang Xiao where thousands of Dong people sing songs on holidays. Few people will go to Huanggang Dong Village in the mountains.

I remember about eight or nine years ago, when I first went to Qiandongnan Prefecture of Guizhou, I found many private vans waiting for foreigners at the station, and many blond foreigners waiting for the bus and looking for cars with all kinds of luggage. At that time, outsiders especially liked to come to Guizhou to see these original stockades. Later, the foreign economy was not good, and the tourism infrastructure in Guizhou was good. After the increase of domestic tourists, the number of foreigners decreased. Later, I learned that Huanggang Dong Village is the favorite place for foreigners in Europe.

Huanggang Dong Village is not very beautiful, and its momentum is not as good as Xijiang Miao Village, but this place is getting more and more interesting, because the original ecological life here is still well preserved. Unlike those famous ancient towns and villages, there are shops everywhere, and the commercialization of Huanggang Dong Village is very low. In recent years, some small shops and restaurants have appeared. The biggest change in the stockade is that China Travel Service has made a beautiful homestay here. Some people may think that this change has disturbed the original ecology of the village, but I think everything must be changed. Huanggang Cave Village is one of the poorest villages because of its remote geographical location, inconvenient transportation and long-term backwardness. In recent years, with the strengthening of poverty alleviation policies, these villages began to get rid of poverty gradually, and people living there also needed changes and better living conditions. Nothing is static, and the real Shangri-La only exists in novels.

At present, women in Huanggang Dong Village still wear traditional national costumes, and men may be more Chinese. But at this point, it is much better than many commercial villages. In addition to clothing, the people here and the life here also retain a complete tradition and original ecology. People's attitude towards tourists is very friendly, their eyes are pure, and the eyes and smiles without interest disputes are from the heart.

The buildings in the village look a little shabby, and the living conditions of the local people look poor. I feel very capable, and women can do men's hard work. The companion joked that her two deepest impressions of Huanggang Dong Village are: one is to look after the children, and the other is to look at the ducks.

Most women and a few men carry their children around. Of course, they also saw many children. It's novel to see us holding cameras after school. I reached out my hand to a child, and he took the initiative to hold my hand, especially at ease to let me hold him. Besides seeing more children, there is also a duck. According to the tour guide, people in Dongcun, Huanggang have a unique feeling for ducks. This feeling is unreasonable. If you steal their pigs and cows, they may not react as you steal their ducks. If you mess with the duck, the duck's woman may run out and fight you hard.

Instead of driving ducks up the mountain, women put them in cages and carry them up the mountain, just like carrying children, taking care of them in every possible way. Even the native Dong people don't know why people here like ducks so much. Of course, people here also eat ducks. We ate a duck at noon.

In addition, according to the tour guide, men here enjoy good prices, eat cigarettes and drink, and have a high sense of happiness, but women here have to work hard and do everything. I didn't feel so deeply this time, but in the stockade, women can be seen working everywhere. Some jobs look tired and are men's jobs. Of course, I also see many men at work.

Regarding "happiness", I remember a short story about a rich man and a poor fisherman lying on the coast. The fisherman asked the rich why they worked so hard. The rich man said it was to lie here quietly and comfortably. The fisherman retorted, I don't have to work hard all my life, so I'm lying here. This sentence seems useless, but in fact, there are high and low levels of happiness, and low-level happiness cannot understand high-level happiness. At least the rich have no worries, but the fishermen have to move on. Therefore, I never encourage those who want to travel around and "realize themselves" without hard work.

The same is true of Dong Village in Huanggang, and so is Bhutan with a high happiness index. A low level of happiness is not an excuse to hinder progress. That's a bit beside the point. Although I only stayed in Huanggang Dong Village for one day, I still like it very much. Bridges and flowing water, huts in the forest, hardworking people and many lovely ducks. It is said that the festive atmosphere and folk customs here are among the best in Jiangdu. Maybe I'll come again sometime, preferably during the holidays.

With the commissioning of Congjiang high-speed railway station, Huanggang Dong Village, which is only one hour's drive from high-speed railway station, will also welcome more and more tourists in the future. If there are a large number of tourists, this primitive village will also be greatly impacted by commercialization. Maybe you won't see many things in the future, but who knows what will happen in the future? So far, this is the most authentic traditional village I have ever been to.
