Why do you eat ducks on Halloween?

Legend has it that our ancestors went home to visit relatives today and wanted to cross the Nai River. We can't cross without a boat, so we sent some ducks down to make them swim and bring them back.

According to legend, people began to raise ducks in beginning of spring in March and April, and about four or five months later, it was the "Ghost Festival", which was the season when ducks grew up.

Because people in ancient times lived in poverty, they were only willing to kill ducks on festivals. So every household will kill ducks to eat on Halloween, and over time it has formed a tradition.

As far as its cultural connotation is concerned, July 14/ 15 is also one of the traditional festivals in China, and its culture reflects a belief. July 14/15 belongs to intangible cultural heritage, which is a kind of culture and a tradition of remembering ancestors in ancient and modern times.

From the legend about July 14/ 15, we can deeply realize that the sacrifice on July 14/ 15 has double meanings, one is to show filial piety in memory of ancestors, and the other is to carry forward the righteous act of showing kindness to others.
