What are the customs of solar terms in Grain Rain?

Grain Rain is one of the twenty-four solar terms and the last solar term in spring.

In this solar term, many places will hold some activities of praying for rain and blessing, and some people will choose to travel. This kind of trip is called "going to Grain Rain", and it is also considered as an auspicious action to pray for good luck and good harvest. In addition, Grain Rain Festival also has a traditional activity of offering sacrifices to Wen Zu Cang Xie, who is regarded as the ancestor of Chinese characters and has great merits. It is said that in order to reward Cang Xie for creating Chinese characters, the Yellow Emperor named him "Grain Rain", so Grain Rain Festival is an important day to commemorate Cang Xie every year.

It is also a traditional custom for Grain Rain to drink tea on this day. It is said that Grain Rain tea on this day can clear fire, ward off evil spirits and improve eyesight. Therefore, there is a custom of picking tea in Grain Rain in the south. No matter what the weather is in Grain Rain, people will go to Chashan to pick some new tea and come back to soak in water.
