How to Clean the Throttle of the Sixth Generation Honda Accord

Throttle is a controllable valve that controls air to enter the engine. There are two kinds: traditional cable throttle and electronic throttle. After the gas enters the intake pipe, it will be mixed with gasoline to form a combustible mixture, which will be burned to do work. It connects the air filter and the engine block, and is called the throat of the automobile engine. Whether the acceleration of a car is flexible is closely related to the cleanliness of the throttle.

The traditional engine throttle control mechanism works through a cable or a pull rod, with one end connected to the throttle pedal and the other end connected to the throttle linkage plate.

1. Remove air cleaner assembly.

2. Remove the throttle cable (mechanical cable throttle). First, screw the throttle control mechanism to the maximum position, pull it with the left hand, hold the throttle cable with the right hand, and take it out from the gap of the control mechanism. Then remove the cable from the accelerator cable bracket, take off the limit clamp and gasket and put them in a safe place. Finally, remove the accelerator cable bracket fixed on the throttle body.

3. Loosen the three fastening bolts on the throttle body with a suitable wrench and remove the throttle body.

4. Remove the sealing skirt at the joint of the throttle body and the air cleaner to prevent the cleaning agent from corroding the skirt and causing the skirt to expand and break. After removing the sealing apron, check for signs of aging and cracks.

5. Clean the throttle body.
