One: beggar chicken. According to legend, there was a beggar wandering around Changshu in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. He accidentally got a chicken and couldn't cook it. At night, he came to the moat, picked the lotus leaves, wrapped them in lotus leaves, coated them with rotten skin, set up firewood by the roadside, slowly baked them until dawn, peeled them off and opened the lotus leaf package. Four: duck blood glutinous rice. There is a broken dragon stream in Yushan, Changshu, which flows all the year round. According to legend, there is a dragon in the stream that often hurts people. The Dragon King of the East China Sea was furious and killed the dragon, so the water flowing through Duanlongxi turned red and flowed into the glutinous rice fields of the following people. The glutinous rice planted by ordinary people has also turned red, which tastes particularly fragrant and glutinous. Because it is as bright as duck blood, people call this kind of rice duck blood glutinous!
During the Republic of China, the Song sisters came to Changshu for a spring outing from Shanghai and tasted the four famous Changshu specialties at Wang Si Restaurant at the foot of Yushan Mountain. They were full of praise!
