Ginger is usually planted in a few months. Can you plant it in July?
Ginger is native to tropical China and East Indies, and likes warmth. The growth of rhizome (ginger) needs high temperature. It can germinate above 16 ~ 18℃, and ginger grows rapidly at 20 ~ 27℃, with an average monthly temperature of 24 ~ 29℃, which is most suitable for rhizome meristem growth. When the temperature is lower than 15℃, the growth will stop, and when it reaches 40℃, the germination will not be hindered. But below 10℃, ginger is easy to rot.
Ginger is resistant to shade but not to strong light, and the requirements for the length of sunshine are not strict. Therefore, when planting, we should build a shade shed or use intercropping crops for proper shade to avoid strong sunlight.
Extended data
Planting season: Sow in spring and harvest before frost. Because ginger is warm, cold-resistant and frost-resistant, it must be cultivated in a warm and frost-free season. To determine the sowing date of ginger, the following conditions should be considered:
1, sowing when the ground temperature at 10 cm is stable above 16℃ according to the temperature required for germination;
2. According to the growth habit of ginger, it takes 135- 150 days for ginger to grow. According to the local climatic conditions, ginger is usually sown in mid-April. Early sowing, low ground temperature, slow germination, late sowing, shortened growth period and reduced yield.
Ginger is planted in the germination stage to supplement nutrition, which is slow in seedling stage and requires less fertilizer. After the "three branches", a lot of nutrients are needed, accounting for about 88% of the total absorption during the whole growth period. The demand for fertilizer in the whole growth period is potassium fertilizer, followed by nitrogen fertilizer and less phosphorus fertilizer. The absorption rate of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P2O5) and potassium (K2O) is 1:0.5:2.
Under the condition of medium fertility, to produce1000kg ginger products, it is necessary to absorb n) 5.76kg nitrogen (n), 2.54kg phosphorus (P2O5) and1/0.47kg potassium (K2O). Fertilization should be based on the law of ginger fertilizer demand, soil total nutrients and fertilizer efficiency, and the principle of combining organic fertilizer with inorganic fertilizer, combining base fertilizer with topdressing and balanced fertilization should be implemented.
