Why isn't the throttle of a car called a valve?

The throttle of gasoline engine controls the throttle opening, and the throttle of diesel engine controls the fuel injection. Because the gasoline engine controls the air-fuel ratio to be stable at 14.7, the system will inject more fuel only if the intake air is large, while the control strategy of the diesel engine is that the throttle is basically fully open, and the output torque depends on the fuel injection amount. Because the diesel engine has high compression ratio and high combustion temperature, it can burn at an air-fuel ratio greater than 14.7, so the automobile throttle is not called a valve.
