How beautiful are the shapes and fonts of the 34 provinces and cities designed by Shi Changhong?

Shi Changhong, upstream design partner and design director. Born in Dongzhai, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, he graduated from graphic design major of Guizhou Normal University in 2008, and joined Shanghai Airlines on 20 10, leading the overall design of many brand images and having a special liking for brand design. The design style combines modernity and tradition, and is good at skillfully designing the positive and negative spatial relationship of graphics, realizing the combination of form and meaning, and creating oriental minimalism and Zen-like graphics. His works have won many awards in international and domestic professional competitions, and have been selected in the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10 volumes of Asia-Pacific Design Yearbook, and have been included in domestic professional design books and periodicals for many times.

Designer Shi Changhong spent two years redesigning the graphic font design of 34 provinces and cities (autonomous regions), combining the font of place names and local characteristics to create vivid and vivid images. On this National Day, his works were issued with the title "Designers celebrate the motherland in a unique way", which surprised millions of people. Before the National Day, the design has been popular in the design circle, and Weibo has read tens of thousands. During the National Day, it was even more popular outside the circle, and the reading volume exceeded100000, causing many big V forwards. Our reporter contacted Shi Changhong of Guizhou and asked him many curious questions.

Shenzhen Evening News: Your design to celebrate the birthday of the motherland is amazing. What kind of feedback did you receive?

Shi Changhong: Many people in Weibo privately asked me if I could authorize reprinting, and some enterprises contacted me to develop this group of works together. But I haven't had time to think about the business model. In fact, these designs all come from life. I am a very sensitive person, and I like to pay attention to the tiny details in my life. Design works can't be completely unconstrained, and inspiration is refined and purified from life.

What is the source and inspiration of this idea?

Shi Changhong: This set of characters started from 20 1 1. First, it was made in Guilin. Guilin took it to participate in the city business card competition and entered the top ten. The response from the industry is very good. Later, Anhui logo of Huizhou architecture was made, which showed the eaves and Huizhou things very well, as if every stroke was just right. This design has won many awards. I usually like to go to various places to play and see many of the most beautiful images in China. I also like history very much. I think, since everyone likes this expression, every province can refine it and express it in a fresh way. It must be "very China", which represents the symbol of this place at first sight. In the past five years, I have sacrificed my lunch break, watching TV at night, watching movies at weekends and creating works intermittently. Without the customer's instructions and the boss's urging intervention, I enjoy doing something with love. In fact, all the 34 signatures were completed in June, but it is more meaningful to think about celebrating the birthday of the motherland on National Day.

What is the difficulty and fun of making this design?

Shi Changhong: The difficulty is refining. First of all, I would like to add a lot of materials, typical things, familiar elements, and human and geographical features known to the whole country. Then do subtraction, extract the complex elements, erase the atypical ones and enlarge the most typical ones. This balancing process is the most painful. Happiness means being happy every time you finish it. The more you look at it, the more interesting it becomes. A photo takes you to that place, and you want to travel as soon as you see it.
