Several skills of adjusting valve clearance

(1) Adjusting the valve clearance without looking at the timing marks This method can adjust the valve clearance simply and quickly, without looking at the timing marks on the pulley and flywheel or whether the compression stroke of the cylinder reaches the top dead center.

Before adjusting the valve clearance, first open the distributor cover. When platinum is turned on and the distributor head points to the distributor plug-in seat hole corresponding to the distributor cover, the cylinder is at the top dead center of the compression stroke and the intake valve and exhaust valve are closed. At this time, the clearance between the intake valve and the exhaust valve of the cylinder can be checked and adjusted. Then according to this method, check and adjust the clearance of other valves one by one. When the cylinder is at the compression top dead center, it is only necessary to align the ignition head with the wire insertion seat hole of the ignition head of the cylinder. For contactless distributor, the valve clearance can also be checked and adjusted, as long as the position indicated by the distributor head direction corresponds to the position where the distributor cover is inserted into the seat hole.

(2) The operation method of adjusting valve clearance cylinder by cylinder is as follows (not limited by cylinder number and label):

Adjust the valve clearance between a six-cylinder gasoline engine and a diesel engine, as shown in Figure 2 ~ 3. When adjusting the valve clearance of one cylinder, it depends on the lift of the rocker arm of six cylinders. If the rocker arms of the intake valve and exhaust valve of six cylinders stay at a certain position at the same time (the rocker arms cannot be adjusted when they are lifted), then the corresponding cylinders must be at the top dead center of the compression stroke, and both the intake valve and exhaust valve can be adjusted. If the fifth cylinder is adjusted, look at the rocker arm of the second cylinder; If you adjust the three cylinders, look at the four-cylinder rocker arm; If you adjust six cylinders, look at the rocker arm of one cylinder. Select any one of them to adjust the valve clearance of the corresponding cylinder. Therefore, the valve clearance of each cylinder can be adjusted one by one (this method is suitable for even cylinders).

(3) Adjust the valve clearance of each cylinder by "twice" method, and use "double row no"

In this paper, the working sequence of each cylinder of the engine is divided into four situations. "Double" means that both valves (intake valve and exhaust valve) of the cylinder can be adjusted, "Row" means that the cylinder can only adjust the exhaust valve, "No" means that the intake valve and exhaust valve of the cylinder cannot be adjusted, and "Intake" means that only the intake valve of the cylinder can be adjusted. As shown in figure 2.4.

Taking the adjustment of valve clearance of four-cylinder, six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines as examples, the adjustment of valve clearance of four-cylinder, six-cylinder and V-type eight-cylinder engines is explained.

1) four-cylinder engine, and its working sequence is 1 ~ 3 ~ 4 ~ 2. When the piston of 1 cylinder is at the compression top dead center, the intake and exhaust valves of 1 cylinder, the exhaust valve of cylinder 3 and the intake valve of cylinder 2 can be adjusted, and then the crankshaft rotates once, and the remaining unadjusted valves can be adjusted by "Shuang Yi No" and "On".

2) Six-cylinder engine, whose working sequence is 1 ~ 5 ~ 3 ~ 6 ~ 2 ~ 4. When the piston of 1 cylinder is at the compression top dead center, adjust the intake and exhaust valves of 1 cylinder, exhaust valves of cylinders 3 and 5, and intake valves of cylinders 2 and 4, then turn the crankshaft once, and then adjust the remaining unadjusted valves.

3)v-type 8-cylinder engine, its working sequence is 1 ~ 6 ~ 3 ~ 5 ~ 4 ~ 7 ~ 2 ~ 8. When the piston of 1 cylinder is at the compression top dead center, the intake valves of 1 cylinder, cylinder 2, cylinder 7 and cylinder 8 can be adjusted, but the exhaust valves of 1 cylinder, cylinder 3, cylinder 5 and cylinder 6 cannot be adjusted. When the crankshaft turns to the top dead center of cylinder 4 at the end of compression, adjust the remaining 8 unadjusted valves.

4) judging the working sequence of the multi-cylinder engine and adjusting the valve clearance; Rotate the crankshaft to open the intake (or exhaust) door of a cylinder, continue to rotate the crankshaft, and observe the next cylinder with the valve (intake or exhaust) opened until all the intake (or exhaust) doors of each cylinder are opened, and then arrange them in the order in which the intake (or exhaust) doors are opened when rotating the crankshaft. This is the working order of the engine. Then, according to the working sequence of the engine, the above method is selected to adjust the valve clearance.
