Throttle position sensor, also known as throttle opening sensor or throttle switch, is usually used to detect the engine state and judge whether the engine is in idle working state or compound working state through detection. The throttle position sensor is essentially a variable resistor and several switches, which are installed on the throttle body. When the throttle is in the idle position, the idle contact is closed and the idle working state signal will be output to the computer. When the throttle is in other positions, the idle contact is opened, and the computer can identify the engine load through the signal from the throttle position sensor, and modify the fuel injection quantity of the engine through these working state signals to control gasoline.
