Erhai Lake is located in Dali City, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province.

Erhai Lake was called Kunming Pool, Hull River and Ye Yuze in ancient times. Located in Dali City, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, Jiangjun Lake covers an area of about 246 square kilometers and has a storage capacity of about 2.95 billion cubic meters. It starts from the southern tip of Eryuan County in the north and reaches Xiaguan in Dali City in the south, with a length of 40 kilometers from north to south. It is the second largest lake in Yunnan after Dianchi Lake. Erhai Lake was formed at the end of the Ice Age, and its main reason was settlement and erosion. It belongs to plateau tectonic rift lake, with an altitude of1972m.

Erhai Lake belongs to the Lancang River Basin and is the upstream source of Xi River, a tributary of Yangbi River. This lake flows from Xi 'er River to Xiaguan, Dali, and flows westward into Yangbi River. Erhai Lake has seven functions: water supply, agricultural irrigation, power generation, climate regulation, fishery, shipping and tourism. The northern waters of Erhai Lake originally belonged to Eryuan County. Along the lake, there are Shuanglang Town and Jiangwei Town in the north, Xizhou, Bay Bridge, City and Qiliqiao Town in the west, Xiaguan Town and Fengyi Town in the south and Caise Town and Haidong Town in the east. The outlet Eryuan River is located in Xiaguan, southwest of Dali City. Because marble interlayer is beneficial to the storage and infiltration of groundwater, it is mostly formed by transverse fracture and physical and geological processes, and becomes the intersection zone of surface water and groundwater in Cangshan Mountain.
