Why is the lunar calendar in China rather than the solar calendar?

Both the lunar calendar and the lunar calendar in China refer to the movement of the moon, and the number of days in each month is approximately equal to the change period of the moon phase-29.5306 days. In the arrangement of months, there are generally 30 days in the big month and 29 days in the small month. After two months, the average number of days in each month is 29.5 days, which is basically equivalent to the length of Wang Shuoyue. This is the homology of the two.

Therefore, both of them can accurately reflect the profit and loss of the moon phase: the full moon in the middle of the month and the new moon at the beginning of the month. But the solar terms in the China lunar calendar can also reflect the temperature changes in four seasons, such as "May, Yellow and June" and "Winter Moon".

It shows that "May and June" in the lunar calendar is the season of wheat maturity, and the temperature is high. "twelfth lunar month" is the middle of winter with low temperature; February and March, and July and August are the transitional seasons of temperature.

Because the time period in the 24 solar terms is determined by the position of the sun on the orbit of revolution, which is the ecliptic. Therefore, the lunar calendar in China has some characteristics of the solar calendar, which can be used to guide agricultural time and arrange crop rotation. The lunar calendar, which is often said, can only reflect the change of the moon phase, but not the change of temperature, so it is a pure "lunar calendar" and cannot guide agricultural activities.
