Five nicknames of cold dew

Cold dew only has a nickname "September Festival".

Cold dew usually falls on June 7th to 9th in solar calendar 10, which is the17th solar term among the 24 solar terms, also known as "September Festival". Cold dew is the fifth solar term in autumn, and it is a festival in late autumn. At the end of the rainy season, autumn dryness is obvious, and the temperature turns from cold to cold.

There is a folk saying that "dew first turns white and then turns cold", which means that dew has changed from coolness in early autumn to coldness in late autumn. In addition, "three dynasties are cold and dew, and you can find a bridge when you cross the water": it means that you can't wade across the river barefoot or go to the fields when the weather is cold. With the intensification of cold, plants gradually wither.

"Three stages of cold dew" refer to "guests waiting for Hongyan" respectively, which means that after the arrival of the cold dew solar term, Hongyan will form a line or herringbone team and begin to move south.

"A bird into the water is a clam" means that after the arrival of the cold dew solar term, the birds on the seashore disappeared, but many clams appeared. Because the color of clams is very similar to that of birds, the ancients thought clams were made of birds.

"Three chrysanthemums open yellow flowers" means that chrysanthemums begin to bloom after entering the cold dew season. Chrysanthemum is the most representative flower in the cold dew season, and its traces can be seen everywhere. Folk also have the custom of brewing chrysanthemum wine in cold dew and solar terms.
