Is beginning of spring superstitious?

Now beginning of spring is only a solar term, but it is still an important festival in ancient beginning of spring, so there are many folk customs on this day. For example, in beginning of spring, especially in the past, there were customs of "biting spring", "beating spring", "welcoming spring" and "avoiding spring".

The so-called "hiding from the spring" means "hiding from the old", because the ancients thought that beginning of spring was the beginning of a new year, just as the changes of the zodiac were based on the day of beginning of spring! Beginning of spring is a day of alternation between the old and the new, and it is also a day of "changing shifts" between the old and the new. Therefore, people who commit tai sui should avoid being discovered by tai sui, so they should hide, so they call it "hiding the spring", which can avoid right and wrong, welcome peace and benefit smoothly all year round.

Although some people say that hiding from the spring is superstition and should not be advocated, it is also a part of ancient folk culture and cannot be completely stifled by superstition! Especially for those who had bad luck last year and felt that they had bad luck constantly, it is a kind of good luck to hide on the day of beginning of spring solar term and hope that everything will start again.

If "hiding in the spring" means staying at home or in a quiet place, you can't just meet people, then "stepping in the spring" is the opposite. You can't hide at home or stay alone in one place. You should go out from home, absorb more fresh air from nature and go to crowded places for relaxation.

There are two folk sayings of "stepping on the spring". The first one is to go out for a spring outing and climb mountains. I think people in the city are like this, but people in the countryside don't have the luxury. Rural people's "stepping on spring" mainly depends on labor and harvesting. For example, in some mountainous rural areas, beginning of spring went up the mountain to cut firewood with a firewood knife on his back in the early morning. In rural areas, going up the mountain in spring is called "chopping spring firewood" and carrying it home is called "carrying spring money (firewood) home". In some rural areas, there is a similar custom on New Year's Day, which is also called "chopping spring firewood". When I get up in the morning, I'm not busy paying New Year's greetings, but coming back from the mountain to chop a load of firewood, commonly known as "making money".
