The Origin of beginning of winter's Eating jiaozi: The Story of beginning of winter's Eating jiaozi
2. Introduction to the story of beginning of winter eating jiaozi: According to legend, Zhang Zhongjing was the magistrate of Changsha at that time. One winter, he went to visit relatives in Nanyang. On the bank of the White River, he saw many poor people naked, their hands and feet frostbitten, and some even froze their ears. Zhang Zhongjing is reluctant and hopes to help these people with his medical skills.
So on the day of winter solstice, he asked someone to set up a shed in the open space and put a cauldron on it. Then he put pepper and some herbs to boil. After cooking, he chopped the mutton, wrapped it in a flour bag into the shape of an ear and distributed it to people who asked for medicine. People eat delicate ears, but their ears are not cold. Since then, Japanese people have eaten jiaozi every winter to commemorate Zhang Zhongjing's art and achievements.
